From discarded couches and other furnishings to wooden pallets and household appliances, our district is flooded with bulky item trash. Some of it is illegal dumping and some of it is a byproduct of our large, unhoused population. But whatever the cause, we have all seen how our streets, sidewalks, and alleys can chronically become cluttered with unwanted items. The Hollywood Media District BID maintains keeping the District Clean and Safe the highest priority.
Building community trust and cooperation is crucial.
Clean Street continues their weekly cleaning collaborations with the BID security team. Captain Sepulveda reports, “One of the most important aspects of the Hollywood Media District BID Clean and Safe Team services is our deliberate process of relationship building with our unhoused residents.” Captain Stankiewicz further adds, “Because of the respect and concern shown by our officers, our unhoused residents work with us to keep encampments cleaner for all. Our safe team hands out trash bags as needed, and the clean team follows up to collect them when full.”
